Rough Ride? Your Shocks May Need Replacing

That Bouncy, Floaty Feeling Is Not Normal

If your car bounces more than it used to, drifts when you change lanes, or clunks over every pothole on Monument Blvd, your shocks or struts are probably telling you something. Most drivers assume it's just how an older car rides. Often, it's a worn suspension component that's been quietly getting worse for miles.

Shocks vs. Struts: What's the Difference?

Shocks and struts do similar jobs — they dampen the up-and-down movement of your wheels — but they're not the same part. Struts are a structural piece of the suspension and handle steering geometry too. Shocks are separate dampers. Replacing struts is a bigger job than swapping shocks, and on many vehicles the two are mixed: struts in front, shocks in back.

Either way, when they wear out, the symptoms are the same: a rough or bouncy ride, nose-diving under braking, body roll in turns, uneven tire wear, or a steering wheel that feels loose and vague.

How Do You Know It's Time?

What We Do at Super Station

We've been doing suspension work at 1650 Monument Blvd since 1990 — 35 years of keeping Concord, Clayton, Pleasant Hill, and Walnut Creek drivers on the road. When you bring your car in, we inspect the full suspension: shocks, struts, mounts, bushings, tie rods, and ball joints. We'll tell you exactly what's worn and what can wait, with no pressure to do more than you need. Pricing depends on your vehicle and which corners need work — we'll give you a straight quote before anything gets touched.

Quick Answer: How long does a strut replacement take?

A front strut replacement typically takes 2 to 3 hours per side, depending on the vehicle. If both front struts are done at once, we can usually get it done the same day.
