Registration Due and Need a Smog Check?

If your registration renewal is coming up and you need a smog check, you want a STAR-certified station — not just any shop. In California, vehicles flagged by the DMV as "directed" must be tested at a STAR-certified location. We've been one since the program launched, right here at 1650 Monument Blvd in Concord.

What Makes STAR Certification Different

STAR is the state's higher-tier smog certification. Stations that earn it meet stricter training and equipment standards, and they're authorized to test and repair vehicles that the DMV specifically directs for testing. If your renewal notice says "STAR Station Required," a regular smog shop can't help you — but we can.

We're also licensed to do smog repairs, which matters more than people realize. If your car fails, you don't have to start over somewhere else. We can diagnose why it failed, fix the issue, and retest it — all at the same location.

What a Smog Check Costs Here

Most passing tests take 20-30 minutes. If you fail, we'll give you a straight answer on what it'll take to get it through — no runaround.

Common Reasons Cars Fail Smog

Q: Can I get a smog check and repair at the same place?

Yes. As a STAR-certified test-and-repair station, we handle both. If your car fails its smog test here, we can diagnose and repair the underlying issue without you having to drive to a separate shop.

A Quick Note on Timing

With Memorial Day just a few days away, it's worth getting your smog handled before the holiday weekend if your registration is close to expiring. We're open Monday through Friday and Saturday mornings — walk-ins are welcome, or call ahead to (925) 685-0101 if you want to check wait times.
